Comment (Deposit): THE DISTRICT WANIZED IN 1866 AND IN 1868, AN 8-STAMP MALGAMATION MILL WAS BUILT TO TREAT ORE FROM GOLCONDA AND HOPE MINES. IN 1889, BATES MADE SOME COPPER MATTE AT ADELAIDE. IN 1897, GLASGOW AND WESTERN EXPLORATION CO. ACQUIRED THE MAIN MINES IN THE AREAND BUILT A NARROW GAUGE R.R. FROM ADELAIDE TO GOLCONDA, AND A CONCENTRATOR AND SMELTER WERE BUILT AT GOLCONDA. THE SMELTER OPERATED CONTINUOUSLY FROM 1898 TO 1905. AND MILL RAN FOR 1 1/2 YEARS, AND BOTH MILL AND SMELTER WERE SCRAPPED IN 1911. THE ADELAIDE MINE WAS BOUGHT BY YERINGTON MTNCOPPER CO, WHO OPERATED IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS DURING W.W.I. PLACER GOLD WAS DISCOVERED ALONG GOLD RUN CREEK IN 1886, AND THE PLACERS WERE SPORADICALLY WORKED FOR MANY YEARS. V.L. BLISS AND W. EVANS ACQUIRED THE MAJOR PLACER PROPERTIES ON GOLD RUN CREEK IN 1901 AND BUILT A FLUME AND PIPELINE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
