Comments

Comment (Development): AT CROSS MOUNTAIN AND PROBABLY IN DOUGLAS MOUNTAIN AREA, PROSPECTORS FIRST WERE ATTRACTED TO LODORE FM BECAUSE OF (COPPER) GREEN COLOR IMPARTED TO IT BY GLAUCONITE. SOME OXIDIZED CU MINERALIZATION MAY, HOWEVER, BEEN SEEN AT SURFACE AT BROMIDE SITE. FIRST PRODUCTION REPORTED IN 1912. IN LATE 1970S, DUMP ORE WAS BEING LEACHED TO RECOVER CU WHILE UNDERGROUND DEVELOPMENT CONTINUED.

Comment (Production): NO PRODUCTION REPORTED PRIOR TO 1912 AND FOR 1913-15, 1918-20, 1922-28, 1932, 1934, 1936, 1938-55, 1958-72, 1974-80. COLORADO DIV. MINES 1980 ANN. REPT. STATED CU WAS RECOVERED BY LEACHING BUT NO FIGURES AVAILABLE TO CONFIRM PRODUCTION. PRODUCTION FOR 1916 CREDITED AS BROMIDE-ESCALANTE; PRODUCTION FOR 1930, 1931, AND 1935 CREDITED AS GARFIELD-BROMIDE; PRODUCTION FOR 1957 UNSPECIFIED BUT PRESUMED TO BE BROMIDE; PRODUCTION FOR 1956 CREDITED TO BROMIDE AND RED JACKET 1 AND 2, BUT AS MUCH AS 400 TONS ORE AND PROPORTIONATE AMOUNTS OF METALS ARE PROBABLY ATTRIBUTABLE TO BROMIDE.

Comment (Workings): 250-FT VERTICAL SHAFT WITH 1375 FT OF DRIFT ON THREE LEVELS. POSSIBLE SURFACE LEACHING SITE MAY HAVE BEEN OPERATED IN 1980.

Comment (Location): ON DIVIDE BETWEEN YAMPA RIVER TRIBUTARIES AND PETERSON DRAW ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1975)
