Comments

Comment (Deposit): BEDS CUT BY NW-TRENDING GRAY HEAD FAULT WEST OF MINE AND BY MORE NW-TRENDING BRANCH FAULT SW OF MINE. VANADIUM DEPOSIT IN ENTRADA SANDSTONE LIES NEAR NE MARGIN OF SMALL MINERALIZED BELT WITHIN NE-CONCAVE CURVE OF LARGER PRINCIPAL MINERALIZED BELT. REPLACEMENT SULFIDES IN PONY EXPRESS LIMESTONE ABOVE VANADIUM LAYER PROBABLY RELATED TO BRANCH FAULT (DOWNTHROWN ON NE) FROM GRAY HEAD FAULT AND POSSIBLY TO GENERALLY EAST-WEST-TRENDING MICROGABBRO DIKE ON WHICH BELLE CHAMPION MINE IS DEVELOPED. PURINGTON (1898) DESCRIBES SULFIDE ORE AS REPLACEMENT IN LIMESTONE. SUCH DEPOSITS AT SAWPIT GENERALLY OCCUPY UPPER PORTION OF LIMESTONE BED, ARE 100 TO 200 FT LONG, 25 FT WIDE, AND 3 TO 5 FT THICK, WITH LONG DIMENSION CORRESPONDING TO TREND OF EAST-WEST FISSURES. LIZZIE G. ORE PARTLY OXIDIZED TO LIMONITE AND CERUSSITE.

Comment (Workings): MINE DEVELOPED BY 1500-FT CROSSCUT WITH ABOUT 500 FT OF DEVELOPMENT

Comment (Production): PARTIAL PRODUCTION RECORD. ANNUAL FIGURES FOR V AND U AND EXACT YEARS OF PRODUCTION UNKNOWN. AMOUNTS OF BASE AND PRECIOUS METALS PRODUCED, IF ANY, UNKNOWN BUT CONSIDERED SMALL.

Comment (Location): MINE LIES ON NORTH SIDE OF UNNAMED TRIBUTARY TO SAN MIGUEL RIVER 0.6 MILE NE OF SAWPIT AND ABOUT 1400 FT ESE OF BELLE CHAMPION MINE. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1975
