Comment (Production): A CARLOAD OF ORE PRODUCED DURING WWI RAN 35% TO 45% MN AND 17% TO30% SIO2 (HUNTTING, 1956, P. 261).
Comment (Geology): THE CRESCENT FORMATION, WHICH HOSTS MANGANESE MINERALIZATION ON THE OLYMPIC PENNINSULA, COSNSITS OF PALEOCENE? AND EOCENE PILLOW BASALTS COMPOSITIONALLY SIMILAR TO OCEAN RIDGE BASALTS. ASSOCIATED PELAGIC LIMESTONES WERE DEPOSITED IN DEEP WATER.
