Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Location): 12 BASIN AND RANGE; 1:62500 QUADRANGLE MAP IS A 1936 EDITION

Comment (Deposit): INTRUSIVE CONTACT; FAULT ZONE

Comment (Deposit): SCHEELITE WAS DISCOVERED IN 1949, IN THE TENNESSEE MTNS. EXTENSIVE EXPLORATION FOR TUNGSTEN WAS DONE ON THE PROPERTY IN THE EARLY 1950'S WHEN SOME 2600' OF DIAMOND DRILLING WAS DONE. A MILL TO TRENT ONE FROM THIS PROPERTY WAS CONSTRUCTED IN MOUNTAIN CITY IN THE LATE 1960'S, AND A SMALL QUANTITY OF ORE WAS MILLED. LATER, IN 1976-77(?) A SMALL AMOUNT OF ORE WAS MINED FROM SURFACE & UNDERGROUND OPERATION AND TRUCKED TO THE MT. HOPE MILL IN EUREKA COUNTY

Comment (Production): ESITMATED TO CONTAIN 0.3-0.5% WOZ AND 0.01% MO

Comment (Development): SCHEELITE WAS DISCOVERED IN THE TENNESSEE MTNS IN 1949. EXTENSIVE TUNGSTEN EXPLORATION WAS DONE ON THE PROPERTY IN THE EARLY 1950'S WHEN 2600' OF DIAMOND DRILLING WAS DONE. MILL CONSTRUCTED IN 1960'S TO TREAT THIS ORE; SMALL AMOUNT OF ORE WAS MINED & TRUCKED TO MT. HOPE MILL IN EUREKA CO.

Comment (Geology): ESTIMATED TO CONTAIN .3-.5% WOZ AND .01% MO, ACCORDING TO GARSITE, P 43., URANINITE OCCURS ALONG A FAULT THAT STRIKES N75 W, DIPS 65 E IN A BODY OF TACTITE
