Comments
Comment (Workings): SEVERAL SHORT TUNNELS, OPEN CUTS, TRENCHES
Comment (Location): ALONG CEDAR CREEK ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1976; PREVIOUS QUAD DESIGNATION = MONTROSE 1:250000
Comment (Production): 10 TONS ORE PRODUCED IN 1916
Comment (Deposit): MN OCCURS AS SMALL VEIN DEPOSITS IN SEDIMENTARY ROCKS AND AS REPLACEMENTS IN SHEAR ZONES IN GRANITE. IN ADDITION TO COMPLEX FAULTING, MUILENBURG STATES THAT SEDIMENTARY ROCKS HAVE BEEN INTRUDED BY GRANITE AND RHYOLITE DIKES. GEOLOGIC MAP SHOWS THESE SEDIMENTARY ROCKS IN FAULT CONTACT WITH PRECAMBRIAN GRANODIORITE. SINCE IT IS IMPROBABLE THAT THE AREA WOULD CONTAIN GRANITIC AND RHYOLITIC INTRUSIONS FROM THE RITO ALTO STOCK (OLIGOCENE) 10 MILES TO THE NORTH, THE IGNEOUS HOST ROCKS AT THIS MINE ARE MORE LIKELY FAULT SILVERS FROM THE PRECAMBRIAN GRANODIORITE
