Comment (Development): AREA PROBABLY PROSPECTED AS EARLY AS 1860S BUT FIRST CLAIMS SURVE YED AND PATENTED IN 1898 AND 1904-05. PLACER GROUND WAS WORKED INTERMI TTENTLY BUT ONLY SMALL PRODUCTION MENTIONED. LAST YEARS OF PRECIOUS ME TALS PRODUCTION WERE 1932, 1935, 1936, 1940, AND 1941. Comment (Deposit): DISTRICT LIES IN NORTH FRONT RANGE ON SW EDGE OF SHERMAN BATHOLIT H BETWEEN GENERALLY EAST-WEST-TRENDING POUDRE RIVER AND ELKHORN CREEK SHEAR ZONES. INTRUDING SHERMAN GRANITE AND METAMORPHICS ARE LARAMIDE I NTRUSIVES--MOSTLY EAST-WEST AND WNW-TRENDING QUARTZ MONZONITE PORPHYRY DIKES, QUARTZ MONZONITE STOCK ONE MILE WEST OF MANHATTAN, AND SIMILAR STOCK BORDERING SCHIST UNIT ON NORTH--AND MID-TERTIARY STOCK 3 MILES ESE OF MANHATTAN. PYRITIC AU VEINS TREND N70W TO N80E, DIP NEAR VERTIC AL, AND CROP OUT ON OVERLAND TERTIARY EROSIONAL SURFACE. UNOXIDIZED OR E CONSISTS OF WHITE, COARSE-GRAINED QUARTZ WITH DISSEMINATED PYRITE AN D SOME CHALCOPYRITE. OSIDIZED ORE AT ORIGINAL LEVEL OF EROSIONAL SURFA CE AND TO DEPTH OF 30 FT SHOW AU ENRICHMENT. PARTLY OXIDIZED SULFIDES OCCUR LOCALLY TO DEPTH OF 125 FT IN VEINS UP TO 2 FT WIDE. PRODIGAL AN D EMMA VEINS LIE WITHIN SHERMAN GRANITE. MONTE CRISTO AND COLORADO VEI NS FOLLOW WNW MONZONITE PORPHYRY DIKE. GOLD KING VEIN CUTS ACROSS CONT ACT
Comment (Deposit): BETWEEN GRNITE AND MONZONITE PORPHYRY STOCK WEST OF MANHATTAN. UR ANIUM REPORTEDLY OCCURS IN PEGMATITES AND STRUCTURALLY CONTROLLED VEIN S AND FRACTURES IN SHERMAN GRANITE.
Comment (Workings): MOST MINES DEVELOPED BY HILLSIDE TUNNELS AND CROSSCUT TUNNELS; VE RTICAL AND INCLINED SHAFTS UP TO 165 FT DEEP; OPEN CUTS
