Comment (Deposit): ORE IS A MIXTURE OF LOW-GRADE, AMORPHOUS, WADLIKE OXIDES AND ENRICHED PORTIONS. ORE IS CONTAINED IN FRIABLE TO COMPACT SILTSTONE, SANDSTONE, AND CONGLOMERATE; CLAY AND MUDSTONE; AND HARD ORE THAT IS A SUPERGENE ENRICHMENT OF THE SANDSTONE ORE. DEPOSIT IS IN ALLUVIAL FAN AND PLAYA DEPOSITS OF EARLY PLIOCENE AGE. MANGANESE-BEARING MATERIAL UNDERLIES A 25-SQUARE-MILE AREA IN THE VALLEY BETWEEN THE ARTILLERY AND RAWHIDE MTNS.
