MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.
Mine Description
The Jersey Lily mine (46) is 4 miles south of the Ruth, on a ridge at an altitude of 6,000 feet. The production, which is said to amount to $7,000 worth of gold, was made many years ago.
In this vicinity, the rocks are slaty and fissile to amphibolitic schists. The vein, which is thick, consists of massive milky quartz with small crystals and thin, irregular veinlets of pyrite. Although rich in scattered spots, it is generally of low grade.
