Comments
Comment (Location): Political location in record is Missoula county. However, lat/long fall just inside adjacent Granite county. Original coordinates were: lat/long NAD27 46-48-17N 113-27-14W (46.8047 -113.4539); UTM N5186169 E312760 Z12; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- Montana Principal, TWNSHP 012 N, RNG 015 W, Sect 04, Sect_fract C S2SW. Leonard is shown on the Union Peak topo sheet. Geonames lat/long is NAD83 46.8049303 -113.4545270 (464818N 1132716W). The location was changed to the Geonames coords because they coincided with the topo sheet and visible workings in Google Earth. Incidentally, if the original lat/long is recalcalculated using WGS84 it falls only 50m SW of the new coordinates. The original PLSS coords fall a full 4 km NW of the location shown on the topo sheet. The were changed to the new coords simply by switching the section from 4 to 11. The UTM coords agreed with the original lat/long so they were cleared.
