Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Location): MAY BE IN EITHER NATIONAL PARK OR NATIONAL WILDERNESS. LOCATED ON FLAT CREEK NEAR SUNSET PROSPECT.
Comment (Location): Original lat/long NAD27 N-47-23-55, W-120-59-15 (47.3986, -120.9875) lies in Kittitas county, 2.6 miles from the Chelan county line. Location accuracy is said to be within 10,000m. One comment says LOCATED ON FLAT CREEK NEAR SUNSET PROSPECT. GNIS says Flat Creek in Chelan county is at 48.42 to 48.39, and -120.92 to -121.06. So this would indicate that the location is 1 degree latitude off. There are several other Flat Creek's in WA but none in the counties surrounding Chelan. The UTM matches the original lat/long but is usually derived from it. Mindat.org says Sunset claim is in the Entiat District but no lat/long given. MRDS finds 84 records in Entiat District which is in SE Chelan county, far from Flat Creek. So it must be referring to another Sunset claim. The original record is said to be in Stehekin district. MRDS returns 40 records in the Stehekin district, all centered around the GNIS Flat Creek location. PLSS coordinates T024N, R015E S29 translates to 47 32 28N 121 0 0W. Again this is 1 degree latitude off. So the evidence indicates the latitude is 1 degree off and should be 48 23 55N 120 59 15W. The lat/long were changed to these coordinates and the UTM and PLSS were cleared.
