Comments
Comment (Deposit): THIS MINE WAS SURVEYED FOR PATENT IN 1878 (MS 37) AND PATENTED IN 1882 (NO. 5337). U.S. BUR. MINES RECORDS INDICATE COPPER AND LEAD, MINOR GOLD-SILVER PRODUCTION IN 1940 AND 1941. THE SHAFT SHOWN ON THE UNGINA WONGO 7.5-MIN. TOPO MAP WAS OBLITERATED BY BULLDOZER WORK IN 1989. THERE ARE SEVERAL DUMPS AND CAVED ADITS AND RECENT LARGE BULLDOZER SCRAPES AND TRENCHES. SEE UNPUBLISHED DATA IN THE RIO GRANDE COPPER FILE (0320070051). INFORMATION SUGGESTS THE MOUNTAIN LAUREL PRODUCED HIGH GRADE GOLD AND SILVER FROM 1873 TO 1897, AMOUNT UNKNOWN.
