Comments

Comment (Commodity): Small quartz veins in Proterozoic granite and gneiss contain galena, chalcopyrite, gold, and silver. These have been prospected with with several adits and prspect pits, but no production is recorded. The workings are now caved in.

Comment (Geology): Mineralization appears to be associated with the Sange de Cristo fault zone and other extensional faults of the Rio Grande rift. Mineralized veins have been found only in crystalline basement rocks, not in nearby Paleozoic sedimentary rocks.

Comment (Location): Located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, approximately 10 miles southeast of Poncha Pass.

Comment (Production): Production was small, if any, and it was not recorded.
