Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Deposit): 3 PERIODS OF MINERALIZATION: THE OLDER (LATE CRET) AND MORE PRODUCTIVE ORE BODIES ARE AURIFEROUS SILVER-LEAD VEINS IN TOURMALINIZED AND SERICITIZED QUARTZ MONZONITE IN THE UPPER PART OF THE BATHOLITH. THE TERTIARY DEPOSITS ARE LOW GRADE AND CONSIST OF ALTERED RHYOLITE IMPREGNATED WITH AU ALONG SMALL FRACTURES. IN SEVERAL MINE DUMPS RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL HAS BEEN FOUND
Comment (Geology): MORE THAN 100 QUARTZ VEINS ARE KNOWN IN THE DISTRICT. ALL THE VEINS ON THE W SIDE OF RED MOUNTAIN EXTEND NORTHWARD TO LEE MOUNTAIN-VALLEY FORGE ZONE. THE LEE MOUNTAIN-VALLEY FORGE SHEAR ZONE TRENDS N50-60E AND DIPS STEEPLY. IT CONSISTS OF FAULTS, VEINS, AND ALTERED ROCK ACROSS A WIDTH OF A FEW HUNDRED FEET, AND IT IS ABOUT 5 MILES LONG
