Comment (Geology): ORE HOSTED IN FRANCISCAN COMPLEX - L. TO L. ; GEOL.DESC: ORE BODY 20 IN WIDE AND AT A 35 FT. DEPTH IS 3.5 FT. WIDE. IN QUARTZOSE GANGUE. BED STRIKES EAST AND DIPS STEEPLY SOUTH; FOOTWALL IS CHERT AND HANGING WALL IS SANDSTONE. ORE MOST ABUNDANT IN POCKETS WITHIN SANDSTONE. MANGANESE CONTENT RANGE FROM 41 PERCENT NEAR SURFACE TO 53 PERCENT AT DEPTH. ORE IS BLACK OXIDES, AT FIRST HARD AND FLINTY, BUT AT DEPTH SOFT, BLUEISH ORE.
