Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Deposit): ADITS ARE INCLINED ALONG BEDDING. REPLACEMENT ORE ON DUMP CONSISTS OF A MARLY ORANGE-BROWN ALTERED LIMESTONE CONTAINING PODS AND CRYSTALS OF GALENA, YELLOW SPHALERITE, CHALCOPYRITE, PYRITE. WHITE CALCITE OCCURS IN LENSES AND BLEBS IN HOST ALSO; THE ROCK IS NOT SILICIFIED, BUT CONTAINS ABUNDANT MN DENDRITES IN ADDITION TO PODS AND CLOTS OF SIDERITE AND FE OXIDES, SOME OF WHICH FORM GOSSANY BOXWORKS WITH GALENA CORES. GALENA IS THE MOST ABUNDANT SULFIDE AND TOGETHER WITH SPMALERITE IT HAS REPLACED OOVOID ALGAL FOSSIL REMNANTS IN SOME SAMPLES; IE. THE ORIGINAL TEXTURE OF THE MOST ROCK WAS PARTIALLY PRESERVED IN THE MINERALIZATION PROCESS. SOME MASSIVE WHITE VEINING IS POSSIBLY SMITHSONITE. ALSO YELLOW PLUMBOJAROSITE (?) COATINGS AND CU OX (MALACHITE) HAVE DORMED AFER GLENA AND CHALCOPYRITE.

Comment (Workings): 2 SHORT ADITS INCLINED TO EAST; BULLDOZER ROADS AND TRENCHES. ADITS ARE 90 AND 20 FT LONG.

Comment (Geology): ROCKS STRIKE - N-S, DIP E GENTLY. NEAR PORTAL, LIMESTONE IS LACED WITH CALCITE VEINLETS AND IRON OXIDES COAT BEDDING AND FRACTURE SURFACES.

Comment (Development): ON SMALL POINT BELOW ADITS, SURFACE EXPLORATION WORK HAS BEEN DONE 2-5 YRS AGO (BULLDOZING AND TRENCHING). AN OLD TIMBER STRUCTURE LIES IN FRONT OF THE ADITS (1983). AREA IS CURRENTLY PART OF NERCO CLAIMS, WHICH EXTEND FOR 5 MILES ALONG WEST FLANK OF RANGE AND ARE APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE WIDE (KERR-MCGEE CLAIMS ADJOIN THESE TO THE NORTH). AT TIME OF EXAMINATION, (AUG, 1983) NERCO HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE ON THE PROPERTY INCLUDING CONSULTANTS WHO WERE DOING UNDERGROUND MAPPING AND SAMPLING. CURRENT WORK ALSO INCLUDES ASSESSMENT BULLDOZER WORK.
