Pikes Peak History
Note: the location given in the map link for Pikes Peak above is only estimated. The specific location could not be ascertained, only that it is near Pioneer and adjacent to Pikes Peak Creek.
Pikes Peak was one of only two mining camps in the Pioneer District that had a post office. The camp competed with nearby Pioneer as the commercial center of the district, but soon lost that contest and faded by the late 1870s. Pikes Peak also received mail for the nearby camp of Yamhill. A general history of the district can be found on the Pioneer page.
