The Ibex district is in eastern San Bernardino County about 15 miles north of Needles. The Ibex or Gold Ridge mine, the principal source of gold, was active in the 1880s and 1890s. The deposits consist of massive quartz veins in gneiss and schist containing free gold and varying amounts of sulfides.
