Comment (Location): LOCATION IS ESTIMATED FOR THE GOLDEN PLACER ON THE NORTHWESTERN EDGE OF THE RANGE. THE SAN LAZURUS PLACER IS LOCATED ON THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF THE RANGE AND THE "CEMENT BEDS" PLACER IS HALFWAY BETWEEN GOLDEN AND THE UNO DEL GATO COAL FIELDS. THE CADASTRAL GRID IS PROJECTED. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1979

Comment (Production): ELSTON, (1967, P. 38) REPORTS THE PLACER OPERATIONS PROBABLY YIELDED BETWEEN $1 AND $2 MILLION DOLLARS BEFORE 1880. LINDGREN (1910, P. 174) STATES THAT THE MINERS WERE OBTAINING $2000 TO $4000 ANNUALLY IN 1910

Comment (Deposit): PLACER GOLD OF UP TO 920 FINENESS WAS FOUND IN UNCONSOLIDATED ELUVIAL AND ALLUVIAL DEPOSITS IN MANY PLACES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SAN PEDRO MOUNTAINS.

Comment (Workings): IN THE MID-19TH CENTURY MINERS WORKED THE PLACERS WITH PRIMITIVE EQUIPMENT, PANNING OR SLUICING THE GOLD. AL LARGE-SCALE MODERN OPERATIONS HAVE FAILED. THERE IS INSUFFICIENT WATER FOR WET METHODS OF EXTRACTION AND THE GROUND IS TOO WET FOR DRY METHODS.
