Comments

Comment (Location): LOCATION IS APPROXIMATE

Comment (Deposit): GOLD IN THE PLACER GRAVELS OF VERMILLION CREEK HAS BEEN DERIVED PRIMARILY FROM QUARTZ VEINS CARRYING FREE GOLD. GOLD IN CREEK IS PROBABLY OF THREE AGES: THAT WHICH FORMED PLACERS PRIOR TO PLEISTOCENE GLACIATION; THAT WHICH FORMED DURING THE PLEISTOCENE ICE ADVANCE AND THAT WHICH HAS FORMED DUE TO WEATHERING OF THE VEINS SINCE THE ICE SHEET WITHDRAWAL.

Comment (Production): FROM 1904 - 1947 , THE PLACER CLAIMS ON VERMILLION CREEK AND ITS TRIBUTARIES YIELDED GOLD VALUED AT $8200 .

Comment (Development): MINE WAS BEING DEVELOPED AS OF 1961 . OPERATIONS HAVE EXISTED WITHIN THIS AREA AT LEAST AS EARLY AS THE 1910'S.
