Comment (Deposit): IN 1954 WHILE BULLDOZING A ROAD, A LARGE PIPE WAS DISCOVERED UNDER 6-15 FT OF OVERBURDEN. THE DISCOVERY IS KNOWN AS THE RED PIT DEPOSIT. THE OCCURRENCE CONSISTS OF AT LEAST 3 PIPES ON A LINE THAT TRENDS N 70 E. THE LARGEST PIPE HAS BEEN MINED TO A DEPTH OF ABOUT 80 FT. IT MEASURES 140 X 150 FT. THE 2ND PIPE MEASURES 20 X 40 FT, A SHORT ADIT (35 FT) WAS DRIVEN TO THIS PIPE. THE PIPES TERMINATE IN SWAN PEAK QUARTZITE BETWEEN 25-100 FT BELOW THE ORIGINAL SURFACE. ; INFO.SRC : 3 FIELD OBSERV
