Comment (Development): NO ACTIVITY AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN 1983, BUT AREA IS PROBABLY STAKED.

Comment (Deposit): ELONGATE PROSPECT IN NW PART OF MINE AREA PROVIDES GOOD EXPOSURE OF GEOLOGY. PROPYLITIZED, SILICIFIED ANDESITES. VOLCANICS CUT BY MAFIC DIKES AND A N25W SHEAR ZONE. QUARTZ VEINS PARALLEL THE SHEAR ZONE FORMING A SHEETED VEIN SYSTEM. SHEAR ZONE 10-30 FT WIDE. SLICKENSIDES WITHIN THE ZONE ARE STEEPLY INCLINED AND COATED BY FE OXIDES AND QUARTZ. THE QUARTZ VEINS ARE GENERALLY SUBPARALLEL AND NUMEROUS. MANY ARE EMPLACED ALONG BOTH HIGH AND LOW-ANGLE FRACTURES. MOST OF THE VEINS ARE VUGGY, OPEN-CENTERED FISSURE-TYPE. THE VEINS ARE COMPOSED OF WHITE MASSIVE-COMB AND SUGARY QUARTZ. SOME OF THE VEINS ARE STEEPLY INCLINED AND OTHERS ARE SHALLOW OR ALMOST HORIZONTAL. ON EAST SIDE OF TRENCH THERE IS A 1-2 FT WIDE MASSIVE TO VUGGY QUARTZ VEIN AND QUARTZ-VEINED BRECCIA WHICH DIPS ABOUT 45 TO THE EAST. THIS IS PROBABLY THE HEART OF THE MAIN PENNSYLVANIA VEIN. THE ANDESITES IMMEDIATELY WEST OF THE VEIN ARE IRON-STAINED AND LACED WITH QUARTZ VEINS AND VEINLETS WHICH ARE MOSTLY N-NW-STRIKING AND MORE

Comment (Deposit): STEEPLY INCLINED THAN IS THE MAIN VEIN. RELATIVELY SMALL AMOUNT OF FE AND MN OXIDES IS ASSOCIATED WITH VEIN MATERIAL, AND IN GENERAL THE QUARTZ CONTAINS ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF FINELY CRYSTALLINE PYR
