Comments

Comment (General): Site visited by Wilson and Heran (USGS) Aug. 3, 2010. There's a current mining claim sign posted along the Forest Service Road that parallels Douglas Creek, south of Keystone. It says:"REGISTERED MINING CLAIM this mining claim is protected under state and federal laws. ABSOLUTELY NO PROSPECTING ALLOWED. This Includes Panning, Sluicing, Dredging, Metal Detecting or Any Other Activities that Result in the Removal of Minerals. VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTEC TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW." Howver, there is absolutely no sign of any recent work on this claim. Only about 1/2 mi. south of the claim post there are long overgrown waste piles clearly formed by a dredge operation. If it weren't for the sign, this would appear to be a long abandoned site.

Comment (Location): PLACERS LOCATED ALONG STREAM IN SECS. 15, 21, 22, 27, 34. (from deleted MAS record 056001041)

Comment (Location): Deleted record 10157457 (old MAS 0560010141) put coordinates at N-41-12-2 and W-106-15-7 with 100m accuracy from main entrance.

Comment (Location): ALSO SECS. 27 AND 34: ON DOUGLAS AND BEAVER CREEKS, NORTH OF THE DOUGLAS CREEK CONSOLIDATED PLACERS. LONG & LAT IN SEC 22 AT CONFLUENCE OF DOUGLAS AND LITTLE BEAVER CREEKS.

Comment (Deposit): THE BEDROCK IS GRANITE WHICH CONTAINS LAYERS OF SCHIST AND DIORITE CUTTING ACROSS THE STREAM. MOST AU IS FOUND AT BEDROCK. THE GRAVEL ABOVE BEAVER CREEK, 80 - 250 FT WIDE, IS NOT FAVORABLE TO WORK.

Comment (Development): LARGEST NUGGET (3.4OZ) FOUND ON DOUGLAS CREEK AT THIS SITE.
