Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: THIN-BEDDED RED CHERT ENCLOSES A MASSIVE BED OF MANGANIFEROUS RED, BUFF AND ORANGE CHERT. THE ORE BED IS 1/2 TO 2 FT. THICK, AND EXPOSED FOR A LENGTH OF 100 FT. THE BED OCCURS WITHIN 2 BRANCHES OF THE SAN ANDREAS FAULT ZONE, AND HAS A GENERAL STRIKE OF N. 20 W. TO N 30 E, DIPPING 15 W. MOST OF THE ORE IS STAINS AND COATINGS OF MANGANESE OXIDES, WITH A FEW SEAMS OF CHERTY HARD PSILOMELANE TYPE ORE 1 TO 2 INCHES THICK. SOME BEMENTITE MAY BE PRESENT.
