Kimberly, California

Kimberly History

Post office 1907-1913.

Kimberly was established in 1907 at the Balaklala copper mine to house its workers as well as those employed at the nearby Shasta King mine. It was named after the former president of the Balaklala mining company. The settlement was linked to Coram by a six-mile stage road and by a 4.5-mile aerial tramway that carried copper ore to the Balaklala smelter at Coram.
