FROM THE MOUTH OF PIKES PEAK UP STREAM 0.7 KM; NEXT IS WOODS FLAT NORTH OF DRY GULCH; TREADWATER BAR WEST OF PIKES PEAK CR AND EAST OF NORTON GULCH; PILGRAM BAR IS JUST UPSTREAM FROM TREAD WATER BAR; BATTERTON BAR IS SOUTH EXTENTION OF PILGRAM BAR.

Comment (Production): PRE 1900'S, $140000 IN A SINGLE SEASON FROM ON TERRACES ON BATTERTON BAR.

Comment (Workings): SLUICE AND DREDGE, PITS, 1871 3 HYDRAULIC GIANTS WERE ON WILSON BAR.

Comment (Geology): BATTERTON BAR GRAVEL IS ANGULAR TO SUBANGULAR COBBLES AND BOULDERS OF QUARTZITE AND HORNSTONE. IN LOWER TERRACES THE GRAVEL BECOMES SUCCESSIVELY FINER, AND GRANITE IS MORE PLENTIFUL.

Comment (Reserve-Resource): NEAR CONFLUENCE OF PIKES PEAK CREEK AND DRY GULCH UPPER 4-6 FT IS LIGHT GRAVEL AU, $0.40/CY. LOWER 8 FT IS HEAVY GRAVEL AU, $0.50-.60/CY. BETWEEN THESE GRAVEL BEDS IS 4 FT OF CLAY THAT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO BREAK DOWN BY WASHING.
